DONNA CASTRO (COSTA)

I have always lived here in the islands, since I graduated from school.  I have attended two reunions.  The 30th, the 35th and also I attended the 50's birthday bash in Las Vegas.  I enjoyed all of those events.

I am married and have five children. We own a dairy

farm in Waianae.  My husband Wayne and I own and operate Wayne’s Dairy in Waianae and have been in this business for 37 years. I swear I don't know where the last 37 years, went.  We must be having a ball, cause time certainly flew by.

FRANCES CHING

After graduation from Radford and Kapiolani Technical

School, I worked for the Aiea Library for 8 years. In

1973 I moved to Los Angeles, California and worked for Pacific Bell for 28 years.

I retired two years ago. With more leisure time, I enjoy attending aquatic aerobic exercise classes several times a week as well as Christian Bible studies.

My other passion is traveling. My most recent trips were to China, Japan, and Hong Kong. This year, I also had the opportunity to make several fun fishing trips to Mammoth Lake. I try to make it back to Hawaii annually to visit family and friends. I would love to hear from you.

JONATHAN DODSON

I attended RADFORD HIGH SCHOOL for 9th - 11th grades. However, I went back to the mainland in summer of 1962. In May 1963, I enlisted in the Army, attended Basic Training and AIRBORNE school.  From the enlisted ranks, I was admitted to the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York.  I graduated from West Point and was commissioned in the Army as an Infantry Second Lieutenant.  I graduated from the Army’s RANGER school and served in Viet Nam with the 1st Cavalry Division as an Infantry officer. In my company we had about half of the soldiers from the Hawaii National Guard’s 29th Infantry Brigade—I was never so happy to see so many “575” SSN’s when I arrived in Viet Nam! felt like I had returned home!

LIFE HIGHLIGHTS:  I have two masters degrees and was on the academic faculty at West Point where I was an Assistant Professor of Leadership.  I also worked with West Point's varsity swimming team as an Assistant Coach.  Recall I was a RADFORD swim team letterman, and subsequently a four-year varsity swimmer as a cadet at West Point.

FAMILY:  When I was at Fort Lewis, Washington I met, courted and married Alicejean (AJ) Leigh, a former Army Nurse.  I have two children: a married daughter in Tacoma, WA and a single son in Washington, DC.

CURRENT:  I finally retired in June 1997, after over 34 years in the Army.  I am now an independent consultant for National Security Strategy.  During this time, I have worked for the White House Staff in the National Security Council (NSC), Congressional Members/Senators and committees, and several Executive Branch Departments.  Since 2003, I have been working as a volunteer at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and the National Naval Medical Center with seriously wounded soldiers, Marines, Navy Corpsmen, Navy Seals and Air Force ground air controllers.  My specialty is traumatic brain injuries as I am a severe penetrating TBI survivor from wounds in Viet Nam.  I also work with PTSD patients.

May 2012 update. I totally retired in 2002 from working for money. Full time volunteer at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC), Bethesda, working with the severely wounded and injured service members (Wounded Warriors) and their families with a focus on traumatic brain injuries, traumatic (blast) amputations, and PTSD.  Assisting the WW WIIs in their transition to a recovered life.

SUSAN CLINGENPEEL

Susan attended the 2003 Reunion in Las Vegas.  She visits the islands often.  WebMama last saw her in 2007 in Honolulu, when we had lunch at Kua’aina at Ward Center.  Susan is married with children and grandchildren. Susan is a retired teacher and lives in New Mexico.

JANE COLEY (RIGBY)

Jane has a long history in Honolulu, even after graduation.  Like Arlene, she needed 6 years to graduate from Radford.  Jane knows Aiea and the Navy Base Exchange very well. Jane married Portlander, Lyman Rigby, and they have a son plus 3 grandchildren.  The Rigby clan lives in the Florida panhandle.

Jane is a registered nurse, now retired. Sort of.  Lyman is a  retired Air Force officer and a certified psychologist.  Both have been back to the islands and other places, whenever the Usual Bunch of Idiots call a meeting.  Whether on Maui, Las Vegas, Portland or Honolulu, it’s always fun chasing the Rigbys with our GPS!

CAROL CARVALHO (KAHELE)

Married to Reginald Kahele, a 1960 grad of Waipahu High School.  I live in the Aliamanu area, all of my 3 children attended Radford.  I worked in the school system as an adult supervisor during school lunch hour and as a security attendant at Aliamanu Intermediate.   I love Las Vegas and hope to hit it big soon.

PAT DUNN (TRISH JONES)

Daddy was an Air Force Dentist, stationed at Lackland AFB, San Antonio, Texas for several years prior to being transferred to Hickam AFB, Hawaii in 1960.  After Daddy died in 1966 (massive heart attack at age of 55), Mom and I moved to Colorado for a couple years where I finished college at Blair in Colorado Springs.

I spent 2 years in Washington, DC working for the Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs (now the Drug Enforcement Agency) where I supported gun toting criminal investigators. Met my husband, Tom Jones, skiing in Minnesota during a Christmas vacation with Mom in 1969. Married 3 months later. That was 43 years ago.  Our children have always been the 4-legged variety – dogs and cats.

Before retiring, I spent 35 years supporting sales/marketing/engineering staffs as well as key executives at ITT, 3M Company, Chevron and a few other smaller companies. We lived in the Twin Cities, then Rhode Island for 5 years, back to the Twin Cities for 5 years, then San Francisco Bay Area for 20 years before retiring in 2000 to Eugene, Oregon.

For the past 10+ years I've been conservator guardian to my Mom ... who died April 7, 2011 at the age of 97. My time was split between Minnesota and Oregon taking care of Mom and her lake home in Northern Minnesota.  I was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2002, and feel lucky every day to be a healthy 11-year survivor.  Life is all about choices, and I think good health and a positive attitude are prioties.  My mantra is to just keep moving ... and stay as healthy as I can ... for as long as I can.
